In which True Detective, Virgin River and Suits meet.😊

Amanda Shepherd Monroe:
Age 31. She was legally adopted by the Monroe family at age 12 after Mrs. Jones got hospitalized. Mrs. Jones was an old friend of Deanna and arranged it for her. That will be the biggest change in her backstory, her new upbringing made her more able to develop stable and deeper relationships although she’s still the same reversed girl. She doesn’t use Monroe's surname in daily life, but legally she’s a Monroe, included in the Monroe family will, hence also literally becoming a trust fund kid. She’s got a bit of sibling rivalry with Spencer, but she’s very close with Aiden. She graduated from Harvard Law with honors. Before returning to her hometown Atlanta, she used to live in Manhattan, working in one of the most prestigious law firms in New York, specializing in investment and financial stuff for corporates. She also takes pro bono cases of foster kids with Michael, developing a deep experience in the criminal world and their financial stuff. She helped the DA office and the police to catch a few small bosses and put money launderers behind bars, tracing their dirty money.
She was waiting for a promotion to become a senior partner when her life turned upside down. She got married to Michael at age twenty-eight, after years of an on-off relationship. He’s the senior partner of the law firm that hired Amanda after she graduated from Harvard, offering her a big paycheck and a personal driver because they’re famous for recruiting Harvard’s honor students. She left the company after they began sleeping around, and had a tumultuous relationship before they finally got married. Their marriage still went rocky, and eventually, they got divorced because Michael cheated on her with a one night stand after a big fight when he wanted to move to Washington for his new career in politics. Amanda didn’t want it, wanted to stay in New York, but in the end decided to accept it for Michael, coming to realize he’s more important to her than a high career in Manhattan working for corporates. With guilt, Michael confessed the affair and hurt and disappointed, Amanda asked for a divorce. After the divorce, Amanda still kept her decision to leave New York, but returned to Atlanta instead of Washington, applying for an attorney adviser position in Atlanta’s DA office, completely leaving the corporate business, wanting a full new start and deciding she wanted to catch ‘bad guys’ more than making money. The reason for her return to her hometown was that she also wanted to look for her biological parents. Her birth certificate doesn’t indicate a name for her father, but she learned her mother came from King County, died years ago. Madeline Dixon née Shepherd. Yes, she’s half related to Daryl and Merle, sharing the same mother.
Her backstory is while still married to Daryl and Merle’s father, Madeline left them while Daryl and Merle were kids, and when she came back after two years, she was preggers. Daryl’s father accepted it, but after Amanda was born, they left her at the hospital to the system because he didn’t want to 'take care of another mouth that wasn’t a Dixon'. Amanda discovered it and figured out her mother didn’t even know who was the father. She got disappointed again, and let it go without reaching out to Daryl and Merle. She discovered Merle is a part of a biker gang that deals with drugs and Daryl runs a pub in the town. The brothers seem estranged from each other, and Amanda stays away from them.
She started working on a case about the Serbian mafia that runs drug and sex trafficking in Atlanta, discovering corruption both within APD and the DA office, and got shot as a warning when she started to dig deeper into their money trail. The police and DA's office swept it under the rug, silencing Amanda. Understanding the corruption runs deeper than she thought and learning the Serbians first bring drugs and the girls to their plantation camps in King County’s outskirts before moving them to Atlanta, she resigned from Atlanta’s DA office as well and took up another job in King County’s local DA office although it’s much below than her curriculum. Her arrival stirs things in King County in a way she hasn’t been prepared for as she tries to stay under the radar.
Rick Grimes:
Age 37. Former sheriff’s deputy and the new sheriff of the town 😊 King County isn’t a real place, but we know it’s close to Atlanta and Fulton country, so I’m making it between Clayton and Fayette counties, ranking in the top five richest counties of Georgia. Coming directly after in the fourth place after Fayette. Its riches and geographical advantages draw a lot of attention, making a lot of people have plans.
Rick got elected in the winter a few months before Amanda arrived at King County. Unlike Amanda, his background hasn’t changed a lot, I just revised how things would have gone without the outbreak. After getting shot two years ago, he stayed in a coma for two months during which Lori and Shane’s affair happened for one night. It didn’t happen again, and they decided to pretend it didn’t happen. Though Rick understood it after waking up, and Lori confessed. This is going to be one of the main differences between Amanda and Rick’s earlier marriages. Lori cheated because she was in despair, and hid it, and Michael cheated because he was angry, but confessed it.
After their confrontation, Shane left the town, and Rick and Lori decided to give it another shot, not wanting to end their marriage, but it didn’t work well. They were keeping up appearances for Carl’s sake but stopped having sex. They learned Lori was pregnant later. Rick still accepted Judith but refused when Lori wanted them to go to the couple's therapy to work things out. Her pregnancy went like that and before they could resolve their problems and decide what to do, Lori went into early labor. Having a complication during labor, she forfeited her life to give birth to Judy, not accepting the doctor’s advice to terminate her baby’s life to save herself. Rick became a mess after that emotionally, and still blames himself for her death because he believes she went into early labor because of his treatment. No one knows about Judith, except him. Shane returned for a while when he heard Lori died, but after another confrontation in which they also fought and tried to beat each other to a pulp, Shane left again. Currently, he’s working in Clayton County’s police department. Rick and he aren’t on speaking terms anymore.
As the new Sheriff, Rick is trying to pull back his personal life together, trying to be a single father with a teenager and an infant at the same time he tries to clean King County’s criminal underworld that has started to increase recently, with Atlanta’s mobs moving their operations outskirts of their county. He’s aware of Serbians’ business and plantation farms. He got shot after they raided one of their plants in the wilderness where they grow marihuana and other drugs. He constantly butts heads with Mayor, who also advocates lifting the ban on drugs in Georgia like other states which Rick fiercely opposes, saying they don’t live in LA. He starts to suspect the Mayor might have ties with the cartels, which created their tension.
When Amanda comes to the town, he becomes very suspicious of her in distrust, not understanding why an upscale career girl like her would want to come to their little hometown leaving the big city. He puts her on his radar, trying to find out if she’s got any dirty deals as Amanda does the same.
In time they learn to trust each other and decide to work together to bring down the Serbian cartel.
And fall in love, lol!
And stuff ensues, of course.
Carl Grimes:
Age 16. A proper teenager, giving his poor dad hell after his mother’s death. Enough said 😊 His only soft spot is his baby sister, and he’s got a crush on his baby sister’s babysitter. 😉
Daryl Dixon and Merle Dixon:
Age 37 and 45. Amanda’s half-brothers.
Daryl left Merle a few years ago, and opens a pub in the town, cutting off their ties. They don’t talk anymore, but Daryl still has a soft spot for him despite his lifestyle. Daryl tries to live an honest life but still carries the stigmata of being a Dixon. He’d helped Rick during an investigation before and since then they respect each other. He doesn’t betray Merle, but he still occasionally helps Rick. Rick usually takes a drink at night after his patrols and has his meals in his bar. He’s also a great cook, but usually doesn’t stay in the kitchen, but hunts. His business partner is Carol Peletier, the head cook of the bar. (Age 38) Her plates are very famous in King County.
Merle lives with their uncle in a cabin in the woods, close to one of the plantations of the Serbians, and a part of the local biker gang. They got business with the Serbians, helping them move the drugs between the countries. They’re also the business associates of a biker gang at Clayton County that is run by Negan, the Saviors.
Negan Smith:
Age 40. He’s a biker gang leader in Clayton County, doing business with the Serbians. He has plans for growing and expanding his business in Atlanta as well. He’s the same Negan we know. He used to be a PE teacher, but no one knows how he became a gang leader. Rick is aware of his dealings with the local gangs in his county and puts him on his radar.
Philip Blake:
Age 40. The Mayor of King County. His family is one of the richest families in King County, having farms and factories. His grandfather used to be one of the biggest mob leaders in King County before legalizing his business and going into politics. His father was also Mayor before him, they treat it like a family business. He’s a snob, arrogant man, but a smooth talker. A politician at his best. He’s married but has many affairs. He’s gonna fancy Amanda a lot despite her being a thorn in his side. He doesn’t care for cartels, but he likes power.
Doctor Hershel Greene:
Age 62. One of the physicians in King County and the owner of a local farm. He was one of Rick’s doctors after getting shot, and they became very close after that. He doesn’t work in the hospital where Rick was treated regularly but has his own clinic in the town center. He even takes care of the wounded of the local gangs, believing everyone has a right to treatment as he’s under an oath. Even the criminal world respects him, but their respectful arrangement starts to vanish when the Serbians insist on buying his farm from him which Hershel opposes strongly.
Maggie Greene:
Age 28. After graduating from Atlanta University of Law, she started to work as an assistant district attorney in the DA's office, becoming Amanda’s co-worker. She’s passionate and very feisty but usually doesn’t know where she needs to stop. Amanda will grow a liking to her and they will get close. The gangs also let a lot of her stuff slide because of her father which makes Amanda at first suspicious of her. After clearing the water between them, they will get close.
Beth Greene:
At 17. Maggie’s half-sister. She’s the babysitter of Judith, taking care of the baby after school and on the weekends with Carl. Carl has got a crush on her, but they’re good friends. In the mornings, Carol takes care of Judith before she comes and Carol leaves for the bar.
Amanda will get very close to her after getting close to the Greene family.
Joan Summers:
Age 30. The nurse practitioner in Hershel Greene’s clinic, working under his supervision. She came to King County a year ago from New York like Amanda after a messed up relationship, blindingly applying to a job when she was drunk one night and then came. She’s a proper New Yorker who graduated from Columbia University School of Nursing. Amanda and she will have an instant liking to each other because of their earlier posh lives. Like Amanda, she is also a trust fund kid, coming from a rich family. She’s got daddy issues which also made her leave New York, running away from him. Her father is the chief physician of the hospital that he owns, and he constantly makes her feel like she’s not good enough because she’s only a nurse practitioner, not a doctor.
Obviously, she’s gonna fall in love with one certain redneck, hehe.
Glenn Rhee:
She’s Amanda’s former driver in New York and later came with her to Atlanta to continue to work for her. His paycheck comes now from Amanda’s personal fund which Deanna started when Amanda earned a full scholarship, putting her education expenses they would have covered in case Amanda didn’t earn her scholarship. The fund became seven digits in time, Amanda making her contributions as a corporate lawyer, giving her financial freedom to do what she wants. Aside from being her driver, he’s also her private investigator. Amanda found him when he was in pizza delivery, realizing his talents and they became a good team. He’ll become a close friend to Rick in time and will fall in love with his boss’s new friend, hehe.
Beatrice Reese:
I couldn’t let them stay in Virginia, really. Hehe. They’re childhood friends of Amanda as they moved to Washington when Deanna was chosen congressperson. They didn’t break their connection and became best friends again after Beatrice moved to New York as well. She’ll throw a big tantrum and buy the most infamous lakehouse in King County and move there after her father gets married to that ‘skank’. Her sister Clarice will come with her for the summer. They will create a whirlwind in the town, shocking everyone. She’s gonna fancy Rick first, daydreaming a star-crossed love story which Amanda will mock.
Age 36. A widow that takes residence in King County, Rick’s neighbor down the road, and basically his fuckbuddy. Her husband was beating her and Rick helped one night, saving her from him. She got divorced, and since then started to fancy Rick. Before summer, they hooked up one night when Rick was drunk. They continued to have sex secretly, Rick making sure to her he was casual and she shouldn’t expect anything from him. She says she’s okay, but secretly thinks they will have a relationship soon because Rick isn’t a man who would fool around long. Neither Carl nor her son know the extent of their relationship. She’s gonna get very jealous of Amanda when she realizes Rick has started to fancy her.
Michael Kinnard:
Age 38. Amanda’s ex-husband. Most of his background still stays. Their relationship was on and off for years, Michael not wanting to settle into a committed relationship with his attachment issues, and Amanda getting tired of their undefined thing finished everything off. Afraid of losing her forever, he came back and proposed, and they got married. He will come back to King County determined to win her back.
Shane Walsh:
Age 37. Works in Clayton County narcotics department. After a beef with Negan, he vows to take him down. He still doesn’t know Judith is his. His path will cross with Rick and Amanda again during his investigation which will create tension between him and Rick once more. One of Rick’s biggest fears is Shane learning about Judith. He believes he’s not stable enough to be a father and would cause more pain to his children. Despite his fears, Carl still adores him and misses him.
Andrea Harrison and Michonne Hawthorne:
Age 35. They're both FinCEN --Financial Crimes Enforcement Network--
Here we are, I think, King County.
Hope you liked it. I’ve been planning this storyline for a while in my mind and it feels good that I finally put it down. I still can’t write it now, but it’s a start at least. 😊 The cast is going to get bigger, I will connect the Terminus gang with the Serbians, but I haven’t decided how yet. The main plot is drawn but I have not decided about the plotlines yet. It will all get interconnected with each other as the story becomes a mix of True Detective, Virgin Rivers, and Suits 😊
If you have any ideas or thoughts, let me know! It could be about everyone and anyone! I so would like to hear it. I can’t promise if I would use it, but I’m gonna listen and think about everything!

Alas, I can't deal with two stories at the same time. :) Thanks for your interest. It's very good that there's an interest in this AU idea for Rick and Amanda as well :)

Date: 2023-11-26 08:25 am (UTC)I was loving Suits so much. In fact, I love it so much that I transferred Harvey Specter the main lead from there into my Michael, hehehe. Harvey is my dream man :) I love Rick, but Harvey IS my man, hehehe. I started Virgin Rivers, and watched a couple of episodes this September but then I stopped, lol. I will start it again, as well. True Detective is an amazing show. I recommend it so much. It's a grim gritty detective anthology series (each season has got a new story with new cast) and it's really great.
Unfortunately, I have no idea :( My main aim is to finish the second book's revision and then I need to get back to On The Horizon and finish that story, as well. (I will need to revise On The Edge and the first part of On The Horizon a little bit as well after the second book, but it's gonna have to wait) I can't start this one before I finish On The Horizon. So... I think my best estimation would be the next year, I think :(

Já escutei falarem muito bem de True Detective, mas só estou conseguindo assistir minisséries nesse momento. A vida adulta é uma merda....
Sim, você tem muita coisa para lidar, o que me faz lembra que tenho que continuar a ler "On The Horizon", estou tão ansiosa em ler o plot do Negan.
